Apple launched its latest and greatest iPhone line yesterday, the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. And yes, you can preorder all of them on Apple’s online store starting Sept. 15 at 8 a.m. EDT. But for those of us who don’t want to shell out a significant chunk of our disposable income all at once on a new phone, U.S. carriers are there for you.
AT&T, Boost, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile all offer their own deals for new phones. Some of them are pretty sweet, with up to $1,000 off when you trade in your old phone or upgrade your plan.
At Apple, the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 starts at $799 and the 6.7-inch starts at $899. The more powerful iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max start at $999 and $1,199, respectively.
Here’s what you need to know to score a new phone through cellular carriers.
AT&T is offering new and existing customers an iPhone 15 and 15 Pro for free with an eligible trade-in model and an upgrade to an unlimited plan. You can get up to $830 off an iPhone 15 Plus and up to $1,000 off for an iPhone 15 Pro Max with a trade-in and an unlimited upgrade. You have to have an upgrade to a 5G unlimited plan to take advantage of these offers.
Boost subscribers can get up to $1000 off the new iPhone 15 models and upgrade every year afterwards at no cost for $60/month. It’s a membership plan so you’ll have to make 12 payments to upgrade, but the upside is you don’t need to trade in your old phone if you want to pass it down to someone.
T-Mobile is offering all iPhone 15s for free (or up to $1,000 off), provided you trade in a qualifying device and are either on or upgrade to the Go5G Plus or Go5G Next plans. Additionally, the Magenta MAX plan allows for discounts of up to $650, $350 off with Go5G and Magenta, and a $200 discount on most other T-Mobile plans. In a bid to further sweeten the deal, if you buy any iPhone 15 model, you can get $700 off on a second device if you add a line to your existing plan.
Verizon lets you trade in any iPhone ever made — including that old iPhone 3s in your closet — If you switch to Verizon or add a new line to your existing account. With the trade-in, you’ll get up to $1000 on the Unlimited Ultimate plan, $830 off on the Unlimited Plus plan, and $415 off on the Unlimited Welcome plan.
New and existing Xfinity customers can save up to $830 on any iPhone 15 model with an eligible trade-in. Even without a trade-in, new customers receive a $400 discount on the iPhone 15 models and a $100 Visa Prepaid Card promotion.
All of the carriers are hungry for your business and new iPhones are always a chance for them to offer enticements for joining or sticking with them. But these offers have a limited shelf life, so if you want to avoid paying full price for Apple’s latest phones, you should consider getting up early and getting your pre-order in on Friday.
